Samaritan Daytop Foundation—the fundraising arm of Samaritan Daytop Village—is hosting our Virtual Annual Gala on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Honorees include Kizzmekia S. Corbett, PhD (Assistant Professor of Immunology and Infectious Diseases, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health), the lead scientist behind the creation and development of the Moderna vaccine, alongside her team, and Sher Sparano (Senior Vice President, OneGroup and Samaritan Daytop Foundation Board Member). Our Gala is the major event we hold to raise critically needed funds to deliver enhanced services, innovative programs, facility improvements, and so much more for our clients. During this unprecedented pandemic and recovery period, Samaritan Daytop Village remains open to deliver critical services to save and improve the quality of life of vulnerable New Yorkers across 10 counties, including all five boroughs of New York City. Over 33,000 individuals annually benefit from our life-changing programs, including specialized services for veterans, seniors, youth and families. 65% of our clients identify as African American or Latinx.
- Each day over 4,350 individuals reside in our shelters and residential addiction treatment programs
- Over 900 permanent housing placements were made last year
- 84% of our clients would recommend us to a family member or friend
This summer, we are opening The Richard Pruss Wellness Center in the Bronx. The new facility – a capstone for Samaritan Daytop Village – will combine a fully integrated team of behavioral and primary healthcare experts at one location. Alongside the pandemic, the opioid epidemic continues to claim more and more lives. Our treatment programs throughout New York City and surrounding counties are vital resources for those struggling with substance use disorder.
