QUEENS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL QUEENS’ BEST SUSHI COMPETITION

QUEENS, NY (July 20, 2026) - Kicking off today, the Queens Chamber of Commerce, the oldest and largest business association in Queens, has announced its next “Best of Queens” competition — this time searching for the borough’s best sushi. Members of the public are encouraged to nominate and vote for their favorite restaurants across Queens creating exceptional nigiri, maki, uramaki, sashimi, and other delicious creations.


"We know Queens is one of the most diverse places on the planet, and that diversity is reflected in our incredible food scene," said Tom Grech, President and CEO of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. "From neighborhood sushi bars that have served generations of families to innovative chefs putting their own spin on traditional Japanese cuisine, Queens has become a destination for outstanding sushi. This competition is a fun way to celebrate the talented entrepreneurs behind these local restaurants while encouraging residents and visitors alike to discover new neighborhoods, support small businesses, and experience the world-class dining that makes Queens unlike anywhere else." 


The Chamber is accepting nominations from the public beginning Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 30, at https://bit.ly/QueensBestSushi. Public voting will run from Monday, August 3, to Wednesday, August 12.


Pending availability, the winner will then be crowned Queens’ Sushi at an event on Wednesday, August 19. The winning establishment will receive bragging rights, along with a complimentary membership to the Queens Chamber of Commerce. Second- and third-place winners will receive certificates.

This is the 15th “Best of Queens” food competition. Prior contests settled debates over the borough’s best pizza, burgers, halal, empanadas, barbecue, tacos, frozen desserts, bagels, pad thai, tavern, bakery, deli, soup, and craft beer.
