Kennedy International Airport. The event will include a keynote address by Carlo A. Scissura, Esq., president and CEO of the New York Building Congress, and celebrate excellence in the design, construction, and sustainability of projects across Queens. The Queens Chamber of Commerce has hosted its prestigious Building Awards since 1926. On the occasion of our ninety-eighth event anniversary, this gala has recognized projects that contribute to the architectural and economic vitality of the borough, ensuring Queens remains a vibrant, sustainable, and livable community. “Queens to grow and thrive, thanks to the incredible work of the real estate, architecture, and construction communities. QUEENS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CROWNS TWIST IT TOP IT AS QUEENS’ BEST FROZEN DESSERT ESTABLISHMENT9/12/2024 On Thursday, September 12, the Queens Chamber of Commerce, the oldest and largest business association in Queens, announced Twist It Top It as the winner of its inaugural Queens’ Best Frozen Dessert Competition. The contest kicked off on August 29 and asked dessert lovers to nominate and vote for their favorite establishments serving up frozen treats from across the borough, with the Howard Beach eatery emerging as the winner. “As we wind down the summer season and welcome fall, we have tallied the votes, and Queens residents have made their choice. We are delighted to honor Twist It Top It as the inaugural winner of the Queens’ Best Frozen Dessert competition,” said Tom Grech, President and CEO of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. “Congratulations to the entire team on their win! As we all know, frozen treats aren’t just for summertime, so I suggest everyone check them out!” “We are truly honored and humbled to have been voted by the people of Queens as the winner of the Chamber’s Best Frozen Dessert Competition. For the past 12 years, our family-owned business has proudly served this community. What began as a small frozen yogurt shop has grown into a destination for dessert lovers of all kinds,” said co-owners John Gurino and Joseph Russo. “We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible team, whose dedication makes Twist It Top It a warm, welcoming, and enjoyable place for everyone. Other elected officials representing the Howard Beach area also weighed in on the win. “Queens is the culinary capital of the world but no meal is complete without dessert, and no borough does dessert better than ours,” said Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. “Twist It Top It in Howard Beach is a big reason for that and a deserving winner of the Queens Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Best Frozen Dessert competition. "I'm glad I voted because I personally go to Twist It Top It with my family whenever I can, and I'm glad to know that the team there is getting the recognition they deserve.” In total, residents nominated 14 businesses for this contest, and after nearly 1,000 votes were tallied, Twist It Top It was selected as the winner. In addition to earning the title of Queens’ Best Frozen Dessert eatery, Twist It Top It received a plaque and a complimentary year of membership to the Queens Chamber of Commerce. The second and third-place winners also received certificates. This is the eighth “Best of Queens” food competition.
