Constitution and Cocktails: Honoring Hersh Parekh!
To commemorate Constitution Week in America, King Manor Museum (150-03 Jamaica Avenue) will honor Hersh Parekh, Deputy Chief of Intergovernmental Affairs at the Port Authority of NY and NJ on Thursday, September 19, from 630-830pm, at the Museum. Under his leadership, the JFK Redevelopment Program achieved a record-breaking $2.3 billion awarded to M/WBEs and nearly $1 billion to local businesses!
Please join us on September 19 to raise a glass to Mr. Parekh and support your local historic house museum!
Tickets are available online, by check or by phone, and start at $100 for over 2 hours of open bar, live music, artist talks, games with prizes to win. Sponsorships are available starting at $200.
Proceeds from this cocktail party fundraiser will support the Museum’s education programs, especially its engaging, interactive field trips. Each year, King Manor welcomes more than 6,000 schoolchildren, primarily from underserved communities in Jamaica and surrounding areas. Through the Museum’s education programs, children build social skills and discover their creativity—critical ways to support classroom learning after two years of online instruction.
The only museum in Southeast Queens, King Manor is open to the public free of charge and offers many community events for all ages in addition to historic tours, festivals, concerts, and local art exhibitions. The Museum’s mission is to interpret Rufus King’s political legacy and antislavery history in order to teach critical thinking for a healthier democracy.
